Coffee coaster DIY
Another valuable gift that you can invest your valuable time in and that any coffee lover would be delighted to receive are DIY coffee coasters made from air-drying clay. All you need is clay that dries in the air and ideas. To get your creativity flowing, here are a few inspirations for motifs: For all three motifs, the clay must first be rolled out to a thickness of 1 cm. This works wonderfully with a rolling pin or a bottle.
For the motif with the leaf, we recommend taking a real leaf from nature and pressing it onto the clay so that the typical structures of the leaf are transferred. The whole thing can be cut out with a knife along the edge of the leaf and must now be left to air dry for approx. 48 hours.
The artistically decorated circle is simple. Look for something with a circular shape in the household and trace it onto the damp clay. Now cut out again with the knife along the incised line and leave to air dry for approx. 48 hours.
For the hippies among you, the flower meadow made from coffee coasters is a great idea to add a bit of color to your table setting. To do this, you can print out a template with a flower of your choice and trace it onto the rolled-out clay. Then cut out the flower again along the edges and wait again until the motif has dried. This takes about 48 hours.
As soon as the coasters are dry, you can start painting. You will achieve the best color results with a high-quality acrylic paint. To make the coasters waterproof, the finished painted results can be coated with a clear varnish at the end. This not only makes the new table decoration weatherproof, but also gives it a beautiful shine.
DIY: Gifts made from coffee
And that's not all, because we're just getting started with our DIY ideas. Even coffee itself can be used to make ingenious gifts for coffee lovers. For example, a painting made from coffee in different shades of brown, a scrub made from coffee grounds or a candle that fills the room with a wonderful coffee aroma. coffee aroma fills the room with a wonderful coffee aroma.
Coffee Painting
Coffee paintings are now sold online by numerous artists. What makes them special is the color gradation of the brown tones, which gives the painting the right mix of light and shade. A work of art like this is also particularly sustainable, as the paint is biodegradable and is a waste product in most households anyway. But before you buy the artwork from the incredible artists online - why not try it yourself? You probably already have everything you need at home anyway.
Here is your tool list:
- A few brushes from fine to thick
- A sheet that is also suitable for watercolor
- Water and Instant coffee or espresso
Now you can get started. Just as you are used to with watercolors, you can determine the brightness here by the amount of water you add to the dark brewed coffee drink . The rest is entirely up to your creativity. We are sure that your coffee friends will be delighted with such a work of art!
Coffee peeling
Another gift on the subject of coffee and sustainability is a homemade body scrub made from coffee grounds. In order for the coffee grounds to have a positive effect on the skin, they must be dried before processing. This drying process should take place immediately after the coffee grounds have been collected, otherwise mold may form. The best way to do this is to spread the coffee grounds on a baking tray and place the tray in the oven at around 50 degrees Celsius for about an hour. The dried coffee grounds are then mixed with sugar in a 1:1 ratio. To make the scrub glide smoothly over the skin, it can be enriched with 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
Such a peeling is not only sustainable and inexpensive compared to many drugstore products, it also has many positive effects on the skin:
- Increased blood flow to the skin tissue
- Stimulation of cell renewal
- Fresh glow for the skin
- Helps against cellulite

- Wicks
- 500-1,000 grams of soy wax
- A bowl for a water bath
- A candle mold or old jam jars
- Two teaspoons of ground coffee
5-7 whole coffee beans per candle as a decorative element
First, the wax is melted in the bowl in a water bath and mixed with the ground coffee. The wax should be melted slowly and heated to no more than 90 degrees.
