Cone grinder

The cone grinder as the name suggests - via a rotating cone or a conical grinding mechanism (usually made of ceramic or steel).

The beans are ground between the cone and the side walls. Depending on the grind setting, the distance between the cone and the wall is reduced or increased, so that the ground material becomes coarser or finer.

Thanks to gravity, the freshly ground coffee is carried down into a collection container.
