Ristretto

What is a ristretto?

A Ristretto Is a concentrated espresso in which less water than usual is pressed through the coffee powder, resulting in a stronger and more intense flavor. Typically, a ristretto is prepared with about half the volume of water of a regular espresso.

How is a ristretto prepared?

To prepare a ristretto, the barista should barista the same Grind size and use the same amount of ground coffee as for a normal espresso, but reduce the amount of water. This can be achieved either by a shorter extraction time or by using a machine setting that allows less water to flow through the coffee powder. The resulting ristretto has an intense flavor and a rich texture.
