La Marzocco - History and innovations

La Marzocco Espresso machines have become the epitome of unique perfection over the years. We present the most important innovations in the history of La Marzocco .

1927 - The story of La Marzocco begins in Florence in 1927 - Giuseppe Bambi creates his first espresso machine, the Fiorenza, in his small workshop. However, his business partner Galletti does not manage to sell the machine successfully. Giuseppe's brother Bruno Bambi, a true sales talent, joins Giuseppe's workshop - together the brothers build the first La Marzocco machine.

1939 - The first of a series of significant innovations took place in 1939: The first espresso machine with a horizontal boiler - the "Marus" model - was developed. Today, the espresso machine is already considered the industry standard.

1970 - Another milestone in 1970 was the construction of the La Marzocco GS - the first espresso machine with two independent boilers - one for steam and one for making espresso.

1978 - La Marzocco machines may be imported into the USA with immediate effect.

1990 - Starbucks continued to grow and La Marzocco produced a new machine specially developed for the global Starbucks brand: The Linea. With its special, huge steam boiler, the La Marzocco Linea meets even the highest requirements and is therefore ideal for the US market and for Starbucks. The cooperation ended in 2005, when Starbucks parted company with the La Marzocco Linea and opted for the fully automatic espresso machine.

2000 - The first World Barista Championship took place in 2000. As the first sponsor, La Marzocco developed important relationships with baristas, which significantly influenced the development process of La Marzocco machines.

2005 - Due to the high demand for a precise, highly stable brewing temperature, the La Marzocco GB5 is launched on the market in 2005. It has a number of valuable features such as an extremely stable temperature and a PID system.

2008 - The development of a new, professional espresso machine with several technical innovations took place in 2008: The timeless and high-class La Marzocco GS3 found its way onto the market.
